We’re proud to announce the launch of Texas State New Ventures and the New Ventures program.
Why was this program created?
The goal of Texas State New Ventures is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship at Texas State and to build bridges between Texas State and other talent hubs in San Marcos, the Central Texas Innovation Corridor and beyond.
What is it?
Texas State New Ventures is a joint initiative between the Material Applications Research Center (MARC), the Texas State NSF I-Corps Site (directed by the Material Science Engineering and Commercialization Program and the Service Learning Excellence Program), as well as other participating organizations.
Ultimately, exceptional participants identified through our programs and other pipelines will have the opportunity to apply for a spot in the New Ventures Program, where we’ll take up to three innovation teams. Each team can apply for up to $20,000 in non-dilutive startup funding. They’ll have the opportunity to work with our entrepreneurs-in-residence to scale and develop their business and will get space at STAR One, Texas State’s rapidly growing technology incubator, just south of campus.
Who is it for?
Your core business concept should be proprietary, sustainable, and scalable. Ideally, you’re beyond the ideation and planning stage. Finally, we do require that teams have at least one significantly contributing member who is a current student, faculty, or staff member holding a valid Texas State issued ID at the time of application.
When and where is it?
The competition will be held at 1:00 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, May 4th, at STAR Park. Applications are available online and the deadline is Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:59 PM: https://txst.link/nv19-app
How do I get involved?
Applications are now closed. If you'd like to attend as a spectator or a volunteer, please send an email to email@example.com briefly introducing yourself and expressing your interest.
